March 2016 Evening Program
A Radical Rethinking of the Smile Sheet – New Design Enables Valuable Feedback (Really!)Will Thalheimer, PhD
Almost all of today’s smile sheets are fundamentally flawed, providing very poor feedback to us as learning professionals. This is a huge problem, because it leaves us in the dark about the effectiveness of the training we’ve developed. Many of us have had suspicions that our smile-sheet data might be irrelevant or misleading, but research looking at over 150 scientific studies confirms that today’s smile sheets are virtually uncorrelated with learning results. In this session, Will Thalheimer, author of the book Performance-Focused Smile Sheets: A Radical Rethinking of a Dangerous Art Form, will describe how to radically transform your smile sheets, enabling you to capture data on training effectiveness that will communicate with clarity and urgency to guide learning-design improvement.
