June One-Day Workshop – Presented by Margo Murray

Managing Mentoring Processes for Measured Results

Session Description:

Two unusual phenomena challenge organizations today.  First, how to create a climate of inclusion and get employees engaged sufficiently to retain the most productive.  Second, managing the knowledge and intellectual capital investment in “baby boomers” who will make their exodus in the next five years.  These performance issues will cost organizations millions if transparent succession planning and knowledge management strategies are not put in place.

This workshop will provide a model for succession planning, and share the operating concept of Facilitated Mentoring, which is the deliberate pairing of experienced, skilled people with less-experienced people, with the objective of skills and experience transfer.  The session will also explain how Facilitated Mentoring can become a catalyst in integrated human resources development, promote individual responsibility for growth and development and be used as a strategy for engagement, retention and equitable inclusion.

Tools will be given for calculating replacement costs and determining support for interventions. Practice will include linking mentoring with organization mission/goals (V), systemic alignment with other performance improvement interventions (S), client collaboration (P), and evaluation (R).
